Dermoscopic findings of hemosiderotic dermatofibroma: A comprehensive review

Dermatofibroma (DF) is a very common benign skin tumor composed of fibroblasts, histiocytes, capillaries and collagen with multiple clinical presentations histological variants [1]. DF usually affects female patients at any age between 10 75 years old [2-4]. Most the time it presents as single, firm papular lesion slightly keratotic surface, sometimes brown pigmented or tone, frequently present in inferior extremities. Almost 6% all dermatofibromas are associated trauma [2, 5]. Diagnosis dermatoscopic patterns have been described diagnostic tools. The most presentation seen 30-60% central scar-like patch peripheral reticular network 3, 5, 6]. Nevertheless, atypical simulating melanomas, vascular tumors basal cell carcinomas another such hemosiderotic dermatofibroma 3].

Hemosiderotic dermatofibroma*
We report a rare clinical case of hemosiderotic dermatofibroma in a 36-year-old female patient. The main dermatoscopic finding was represented by homogeneous blue-gray pigmentation. The aim of this report is to demonstrate the rarity of the lesion and the dermatoscopic importance it assumes by sharing a blue-gray homogeneous pattern with other benign and malignant lesions.
